Create Material List – Generator for Renovation & Drywall
Calculate material requirements incl. waste and get a clean material list (incl. CSV export).
Note: Skirting = Room perimeter minus door openings, plus reserve.
Tip: If you are unsure, estimate openings smaller – having a reserve is cheaper than buying more later.
Values are practical estimates, but spacing/screws may vary by system. Reserve helps with cuts.

Material List Generator: Calculate material requirements and shop stress-free
A clean material list makes the difference between "a quick trip to the hardware store" and a renovation project that remains plannable, affordable, and easy to implement. With this material list generator, you can calculate your material requirements, factor in typical reserves (waste), and create a clear list for purchasing. Whether flooring, wall paint, or drywall: If you know beforehand how much you really need, you save time, trips, and often money – because you don't buy twice or have to reorder in the middle of the project.
The most common mistake in DIY projects is not the work itself, but the planning. Whoever calculates the area incorrectly, ignores pack sizes, or forgets the reserve, will later stand there with too little material. That is exactly what a material list is for: It translates measurements into quantities, liters, or packs. For flooring, not only the square meterage counts, but also the cuts at edges, niches, and door frames. When painting, ceiling height, the number of coats, and the coverage of the paint massively influence consumption. And in drywall, much depends on the system: board format, stud spacing, cladding (single-layer/double-layer) as well as screw and joint material.
It is practical that you can also optimize your shopping with a good material list: You immediately see which positions are "main materials" (e.g., floor packs, liters of paint, gypsum boards) and which additives almost always go with them (impact sound insulation, skirting boards, foil, screws, joint tape). This way you don't forget small parts – because exactly those otherwise cause additional trips. The generator also offers you an export (CSV) so you can transfer the list to Excel, Google Sheets, or directly into a note.
Tips for accurate results
- Set reserve realistically: For floors often 8–12% (with many corners rather more), for paint 5–10%, and for drywall depending on cuts 10–15%.
- Observe pack sizes: For floors, always round up to full packs – the last half pack does not exist.
- Do not exaggerate openings: Deducting doors/windows makes sense, but too large deductions quickly lead to too little paint.
- Plan drywall according to system: Stud spacing and screw quantity can vary by manufacturer – in doubt check the system specifications.
- Better to measure once correctly: Record Length × Width or Perimeter × Height cleanly, then the material requirement calculation will be stable.
FAQ
Which waste setting is "normal"?
For standard rooms, 10% is a good start. Many corners, diagonal laying, or small leftover pieces increase waste – then better choose 12–15%.
Why does the generator also calculate skirting boards for floors?
Because skirting boards almost always go with it. The room perimeter minus door openings, plus reserve is calculated – so you get a practical purchase quantity.
How accurate is the paint calculation?
It is as good as your inputs: Coverage (m²/L) and number of coats are crucial. Different surfaces absorb differently – reserve helps.
Can I adapt the list to my products?
Yes. You can change pack content, coverage, screws per m², and other values directly in the form. Thus, the material list fits your concrete system.
Is the generator suitable for Elementor?
Yes. It runs completely without external libraries and can be inserted into an Elementor HTML widget. The result stays on your page (no data transmission).
