FAQ (collapsible)
How is Parental Allowance basically calculated?
Simply put, Parental Allowance replaces a percentage (replacement rate) of the lost net income. If you earn income from part-time work during the receipt period, the difference between "before" and "during" counts.
What is the difference between Basic Parental Allowance and Parental Allowance Plus?
Basic Parental Allowance is (simply put) the "normal" monthly amount. Parental Allowance Plus is often about half per month, but can be received for longer – often useful with part-time work.
What minimum and maximum amounts apply?
In practice, there are minimum and maximum amounts (depending on the model) – this calculator takes them into account automatically.
What does the Sibling Bonus provide?
If certain conditions are met, your Parental Allowance increases by 10% – at least by a fixed minimum bonus (depending on the model).
How do Multiples affect the allowance?
In the case of multiple births, there is a supplement for each additional child – you can set the number of babies above.
What is the Income Limit?
For certain birth periods, there is an income limit on taxable income. If you are above it, entitlement may lapse. The calculator shows a note about this.
What is the Partnership Bonus?
If both parents work part-time in parallel (defined hour corridor), additional Parental Allowance Plus months may be possible. The check here is simplified.
